Budgeting for Invisalign
Dr Melanie Gray sets out how to plan for the cost of Invisalign on Lanark's High Street: what one fee pays for, how your package is chosen, when payment is due, and what to keep aside for the years after.
How Much Should I Budget for Invisalign in Lanark, and What Does It Cover?
For Invisalign at Lanark Smile Studios, budget from £3,250 up to £4,750. Lite is the lowest of four fixed packages, with Moderate (£3,750) and Comprehensive (£4,250) in between. Your package is settled at a free consultation and written into a plan, and payment is spread as treatment moves forward. That one fee takes in X-rays and scans, every aligner and refinement, a hygiene appointment, a home whitening kit and your first Vivera retainers, so the main later cost to plan for is replacing retainers.
A Fee That Covers the Whole Course
The most useful thing to know when budgeting is that our Invisalign fee is not a starting price. All four packages carry the same contents, from the first X-ray to the retainers that hold the result:
- X-rays, iTero scans and the 3D simulation
- all the aligners in the package
- refinements, should a tooth fall behind and need extra aligners to catch up
- Vivera retainers, worth £530 on their own
- home whitening, which would otherwise be £350
- a hygiene appointment, otherwise £70
For the straightening itself, then, there is nothing to set aside beyond the figure on your plan. Anything that has to happen before aligners go in, such as treating decay or settling inflamed gums, is costed separately from our fee list at the consultation.
Your Package, and Who Decides It
Your teeth decide the package, not your budget, which is why the figure comes after the scan rather than before it. At the free consultation Dr Melanie Gray or Dr Davinder Kalsi looks at your teeth, gums and bite, records them with the iTero scanner and takes you through a 3D forecast of the planned movement.
Lite, at £3,250, is the shortest course. Moderate costs £3,750, Comprehensive £4,250 and Comprehensive Plus £4,750, each step reflecting more movement and more aligners rather than more extras. 1 How teeth tend to sort into those bands is described in our Invisalign packages guide.

When the Money Is Paid
The fee is stated in your written plan ahead of the first aligner order, with payment falling due as treatment progresses. With refinements and retainers already inside it, the total agreed at the start is the total paid by the end.
Joining our dental plan will not lower that price, because orthodontic work sits outside the member discount. Routine hygienist appointments during the months in aligners, though, are part of what members already pay for.
Close to Home, and in Person
Aligners ordered online tend to advertise lower prices than Invisalign from a practice. The trays move teeth in the same way; what the lower price usually leaves out is a dentist checking your gums and roots before treatment, bonded attachments for the movements trays struggle with on their own, and someone seeing your teeth at each stage. In each year from 2022 to 2026, the group that Lanark Smile Studios belongs to has held Invisalign's Diamond Apex tier. Align Technology keeps that tier for the busiest 1% of European providers, counted purely by the number of aligner patients treated. It is a tally of cases rather than a qualification, but it does mean aligner treatment is everyday work here.
Setting Aside for Retainers
The one cost worth planning for after treatment is retainers. Your first Vivera set comes in the package, and wearing it each night is what stops the teeth drifting back. If it is lost or broken in later years, a new Vivera set is £530, while Essix clear retainers are a lower-cost option at £214 for the top or bottom alone and £270 for upper and lower. 1
