General Dentist in Lanark: Family Dentistry, NHS and Private
From routine dental examinations (often called a check-up) and hygiene visits to fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, dentures and urgent repairs on the day, it all happens at 72 High Street, Lanark. Privately, an examination costs £70. 1 Children are registered and treated on the NHS. We're registering new NHS adults now, too.
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm, and Friday, 9am to 5pm. Closed at weekends.
Dental Examinations
We check each tooth, the gums, how you bite and the soft tissues inside your mouth. X-rays are only taken when they would show something the eye can't.
Urgent, Same-Day Care
For toothache, facial swelling or a broken tooth. We hold appointments back each weekday for people in pain, whether or not you're registered with us.
Hygiene with Fiona
Fiona Dyer, our hygienist, removes tartar, can polish away staining with Airflow, and treats gums that bleed before the problem becomes harder to reverse.
White Fillings
We remove the decay and restore the tooth with composite matched to its colour. Usually done in a single visit.
Root Canal Treatment
If the nerve in a tooth is dying or infected, cleaning and sealing its canals means the tooth can stay instead of being extracted.
Crowns and Onlays
Full or partial ceramic coverage for teeth that are cracked, heavily filled or root filled. Made from a digital scan rather than impression putty.
Bridges
A replacement tooth anchored to the teeth next to the space, which frequently need little or no preparation.
Dentures
Acrylic or metal-framed, replacing a few teeth or all of them. A denture that keeps slipping can be secured with implants.
Extractions
If a tooth is beyond saving, including a wisdom tooth, we remove it as gently as possible, having planned the gap beforehand. IV sedation can be arranged.
Guards and Splints
Custom night guards if you grind or clench, sports mouthguards for contact games, and devices that may help with snoring.
What We Examine
How Often You'll Visit
Six-monthly visits aren't a fixed rule. If your gums are healthy and you've had no decay lately, a dental examination every year, or even every second year, may be enough. If you have active gum disease or a mouth full of fillings, every three months may be wiser.
Together we'll agree the interval and the reasons for it. Two to four hygiene visits a year suit most adults, and our dental plans include examinations and hygiene for a monthly fee starting at £24.10.

Replacing a Lost Tooth
We'll always try to keep the tooth. When that isn't possible, the gap can be filled in four ways.
Bridges
Attached to the adjacent teeth; no surgery involved. Per unit from £675. More on bridges

Taken out to clean, and the most affordable option when a few teeth are gone. From £565. More on dentures
Dental Implants

Implant-Retained Dentures
A complete denture that clips onto implants and stays steady when you chew. Per jaw from £8,500.

We're taking on new NHS patients, adults and children, as well as private patients. We provide NHS dentistry as part of NHS Lanarkshire. For private treatment, every fee is published on our price list and confirmed in writing before any work begins.
