In Plain Terms: Fees, Deposits and Notice
Booking a free consultation at Lanark Smile Studios means paying a £20 deposit, which comes back to you within 7 days of your visit. Before any treatment starts you'll have the fee in writing, and it won't change after that. If you need to cancel or move an appointment, please give us 48 hours' notice.

Deposits
The reason is simple: when a booked hour goes empty because someone doesn't come, a person who needed that time has missed out.
Booking a free consultation about implants, composite bonding or a smile makeover means paying a £20 deposit at the time (Invisalign consultations need no deposit)
Facial aesthetics consultations carry a £20 deposit
It's refunded no more than 7 days after you come in, whatever you decide about treatment
Worth knowing: Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. We only hold on to the deposit if you don't attend and haven't let us know.
We only ask for a deposit on free consultations. Dental examinations, hygiene appointments and emergency visits are paid at the prices on our fee list, or included in your dental plan
Fees Set in Writing
Knowing what you'll pay should come before treatment begins, never as a surprise afterwards.
Our full price list is published right here on the website, and it's what we actually charge
Ahead of any course of treatment, we give you a written plan setting out our recommendation, the alternatives and the cost of each stage
Where a fee on the list starts with "from", your plan replaces it with the actual figure for your mouth
When you agree to the plan, that fee is locked in. Should we come across something nobody could have foreseen midway, a crack hidden beneath an old filling for instance, we stop and talk it through with you before doing or charging for anything more
Plenty of people take their plan away to mull over. You won't be rushed, and nobody expects an answer on the day
Dental plan members save 10% on most private treatment. The discount doesn't apply to implants, orthodontics or bigger cosmetic cases
Changing a Booking
Plans change, we understand. The sooner you let us know, the more likely we can pass the slot to someone who's in pain.

A free consultation missed with no word from you means the deposit isn't returned
Running late on the road? Call us. We'll still see you if we can, and if not, we'll book you a new time
On the rare occasion we need to change your appointment, we'll tell you as soon as possible and offer you the next convenient slot
We send reminders by text message, so please let reception know if your mobile number changes
Implant Guarantee
Plainly put: what's included, and what we need from you in return.
Every implant we place here carries a 5-year guarantee for non-smokers who attend hygiene visits every 3 months
Our implants are MegaGen AnyRidge, put in with MegaGen R2 guided surgery using a 3D-printed guide designed from your CT scan
Two of the most common causes of implant failure are smoking and gum infection, so the guarantee depends on you not smoking and attending hygiene visits regularly
With Plan B you see the hygienist every three months, which is exactly the routine the guarantee requires

The NHS
We're taking on new NHS patients, adults and children, as well as private patients.
In Scotland, NHS dental examinations are free for everyone. NHS treatment is free if you're under 26, pregnant, have had a baby in the last 12 months, or receive certain benefits
Everyone else pays 80% of the NHS fee, up to a maximum of £384 per course of treatment
NHS and private care can sit side by side. As an NHS patient you might choose a private option for one tooth, such as a tooth-coloured filling on a molar, and you'll see both prices before deciding
We're welcoming new NHS patients, adults and children alike. To register, request a call back. Private appointments are available too, if you'd prefer

Paying for Treatment
How you pay depends on whether it's a course of treatment or your routine care.
Courses of treatment are charged at the fees in the written plan you agreed, with payment due as treatment progresses
Dental plans: routine dental examinations and hygiene for a monthly fee, Plan A £24.10 or Plan B £40.16, with emergency appointments covered
Urgent Problems
You don't need to be registered with us to be seen when you're in pain.
An emergency appointment is £85 if you're registered here and £85 if you aren't. Dental plan members aren't charged

Go to A&E or dial 999 for a heavy blow to the face, bleeding you can't stop, or swelling that reaches your eye or affects your breathing or swallowing
Records and Concerns
A few practical points.
Before your first visit we text you a secure link to complete your medical history
Photos we take of your teeth are kept with your clinical record. Before-and-after images are only ever shared publicly if you agree in writing, and every patient's outcome is different
Our privacy notice sets out the information we keep and the reasons. If you send photos for an online opinion, only our clinicians see them

Questions
Common queries on deposits, missed appointments and payment.
Do you charge for consultations?+
No. Invisalign, composite bonding, veneer, smile makeover and implant consultations, full arch included, are all free of charge. A £20 deposit holds your booking, and it's repaid within 7 days once you've attended. Invisalign consultations need no deposit. Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. We only hold on to the deposit if you don't attend and haven't let us know. A dental examination is booked separately; the new patient version, with X-rays, is £70.
What happens if I miss an appointment or cancel at short notice?+
Tell us as early as you can. Even when you cancel late, your consultation deposit comes back to you. Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. We only hold on to the deposit if you don't attend and haven't let us know. Running late? Call us and we'll let you know if we can still see you. Appointment reminders come by text message, so please keep the mobile number we hold for you current.
Could my fee increase after treatment begins?+
No. Before treatment begins, we give you a written plan that sets out a fixed fee, and that's what you'll pay. If something unexpected comes to light during treatment, for instance a tooth that needs more work than the X-ray suggested, we pause and talk it over with you. The cost never changes without your say-so.
Is there a guarantee on your implants?+
Yes. Implants placed at our Lanark practice carry a 5-year guarantee for non-smokers who attend hygiene visits every 3 months. Those conditions aren't arbitrary: smoking and poor cleaning cause more implant problems than anything else, and regular hygiene appointments let us spot trouble while it's small. Before treatment begins you'll have the full terms in writing, as part of your consent form, so there are no surprises later.

Yes. We're taking on new NHS patients, adults and children, as well as private patients. To register, request a call back and select an NHS place, and we'll arrange your first appointment.
