Request a call back and we'll take care of the rest.Taking new NHS patients now, adults and children. Part of NHS Lanarkshire.
We're taking on new NHS patients, adults and children, as well as private patients.
Children and Young People
You can bring them along at any age. We register children on the NHS straight away, and in Scotland anyone under 26 pays nothing for NHS dental examinations or treatment.
Adults Too
We're accepting new adult NHS patients now. Get in touch and we'll register you and book your first dental examination. If you'd like private treatment instead, that's available too, and you can decide treatment by treatment.
Scotland's NHS Charges
These charges are fixed by the Scottish Government rather than by us, so every NHS dentist in Scotland charges the same. We'll tell you what you'll pay before any treatment starts.
| Dental examination | No charge at any age |
| Under 26 years old | Free treatment |
| Pregnant, or had a baby in the last 12 months | Treatment costs nothing |
| On qualifying benefits, or with an HC2 certificate | Nothing to pay for treatment |
| Holding an HC3 certificate | Partial help with charges |
| All other adults | Pay 80% of the NHS fee, up to a maximum of £384 for each course of treatment |
What Counts as a Course
A course covers all the treatment your dentist plans following one examination to make your mouth healthy, for example a couple of fillings, a scale and polish and one extraction. The maximum charge applies to the whole course rather than to each separate item.
That means an adult paying NHS charges won't be asked for more than £384 for one course, no matter how much work it involves. A fresh problem appearing months afterwards starts a new course, which has its own maximum.
Covered by the NHS
Any treatment that's clinically necessary to get your mouth healthy and keep it that way, including dental examinations, X-rays, scaling, fillings, root canal treatment, extractions, crowns, bridges and dentures.
Cosmetic treatment, done mainly to change how your teeth look, isn't covered. This includes composite bonding, whitening, veneers, Invisalign and, except in rare cases, dental implants. NHS fillings in back teeth are often silver amalgam, with white fillings generally used on front teeth.
Choosing NHS or private carePrivate Care, Plainly Put
Adults can register with us on the NHS, so going private is purely a matter of preference. Here's an honest look at what it involves, for and against.
The Advantages
Every private filling is white, and there's more choice of materials, including ceramic crowns made from a digital scan with our iTero scanner instead of a putty mould.
The Cost
A first private examination including X-rays costs £70, and treatment follows the prices in our published fee list. Most private treatment costs more than its NHS equivalent, and no maximum charge applies.
Dental Plans
At £24.10 or £40.16 each month, our dental plans cover your regular dental examinations and hygienist visits. They're good value for some people but not for everyone, so we're happy to do the sums with you.
Combining NHS and Private
Plenty of patients have their routine care on the NHS and go private for a single treatment, perhaps an implant or a crown in another material. We'll always make clear which parts are which.
Moving to the NHS
Already a private patient with us and want NHS care instead? Just ask. We're registering adults on the NHS, so you can switch your routine care across.
When NHS Makes More Sense
NHS treatment is free if you're under 26, pregnant or receiving qualifying benefits, and we'll always point that out. We see children on the NHS as well.
How to Register
Children and adults alike can be booked in straight away, on the NHS or privately.
Contact Us
Use the call-back form and select NHS place, or message us on WhatsApp, letting us know who you want to register.
Children's First Appointment
We'll arrange your child's first NHS dental examination, and any brothers or sisters can be registered at the same time.
Adults: Booked in Too
We'll take a few details, register you as an NHS patient and find you a first appointment. If you'd prefer to be seen privately, we can book that instead.
Your First Examination
Your dentist looks carefully at your teeth, gums and the soft tissues of your mouth, takes X-rays if they're needed and gives you a written plan marking each item as NHS or private.
Our Health Board and Urgent Help
The health board responsible for our NHS dental care is NHS Lanarkshire, which covers Lanark, Clydesdale and the rest of North and South Lanarkshire.
Outside our opening hours, ring NHS 24 on 111 for urgent dental problems; they can book you into an out-of-hours NHS service when it can't wait. While we're open, our same-day emergency appointments can be booked by anyone, whether registered with us or not.
On a low income? Applying to the NHS Low Income Scheme on form HC1 may get you an HC2 certificate (full help) or an HC3 (partial help). Before treatment, we'll ask you to confirm any exemption you're claiming.
