How to Make a Complaint
Updated October 2026. Please let us know if something about your treatment or your visit fell short. Coming to us first is normally the fastest way to put it right.
Contacting Us
You can speak to your dentist or any member of the reception team, phone 01555 662441, email info@lanarksmilestudios.co.uk, or send a letter to the practice manager at 72 High Street, Lanark ML11 7ES. Many issues can be resolved on the day we hear about them. Complaining will never change the care we give you.
Response Times
We Confirm Receipt
You will hear from us within three working days of it arriving, so you know the right person has it.
We Investigate
Those involved are spoken to, and we review your records along with any correspondence.
We Reply in Full
We aim to send a full response within 20 working days. Should it take longer, we will tell you the reason and give you a revised date.
NHS Treatment Complaints
For NHS treatment, you may come to us first. You can also go straight to the complaints team at NHS Lanarkshire, or turn to them if our reply does not resolve things. If you remain unhappy after their final response, you can ask the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) to review the way your complaint was handled.
If you would like support, the Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS), run through Citizens Advice Scotland, offers free and independent help with NHS complaints.
Private Treatment Complaints
Please bring any concern about private treatment to us in the first instance. If our final response leaves it unresolved, you can contact the Dental Complaints Service, a free service that is independent of the practice.
Worries About a Clinician
Where the concern is not about the service but about whether a dentist or hygienist is fit to practise, you can take it to the General Dental Council. The GDC is the body with which all our clinicians are registered.
