Most appointments last 30 minutes. If there's heavy build-up, or it's been several years since your last one, we'll book an hour-long deep clean.
Gum Measurements
Fiona records pocket depths and any bleeding around each tooth, so early changes are spotted.
Tartar Removal
An ultrasonic scaler and slim hand instruments lift hardened deposits from above and just below the gum line.
Air Polishing
A jet of warm water, air and very fine powder washes away plaque and the stains left by tea, coffee, wine and tobacco.
Advice for Home
The right interdental brush sizes for your spaces, plus the spots your brushing misses, shown in your own mouth.
Why We Use Airflow
Airflow replaces the gritty paste of old-style polishing. Stains lift in minutes, it gets into tricky areas around implants, bridges, braces and crowded teeth, and it's kinder to gums that are already tender.
It's part of every hygiene appointment for dental plan members. Paying as you go, a 30-minute Airflow visit is £100, or you can add it to a standard visit for £30.
Treating Gum Disease
Once gum disease affects the bone, a routine clean won't be enough. Fiona treats it beneath the gum line over a series of planned stages.
Due a Hygiene Visit?
Gum disease is painless early on, so don't wait for it to hurt. If any of these ring a bell, it's time to book.
Pink in the Sink
Bleeding when you brush or floss is the first and most frequent sign that gums are inflamed.
Bad Breath That Returns
When it comes back shortly after brushing, the cause is usually plaque under the gum.
Roughness Near the Gums
Tartar your tongue can feel, typically behind the bottom front teeth. Brushing can't remove it.
Longer-Looking Teeth
Gums pulling back, perhaps with a twinge near the gum when you have something cold.
Implants, Bridges or Braces
Plaque collects in hard-to-reach spots around them, so the surrounding gum needs extra attention.
Pregnancy
Hormonal changes leave gums more prone to swelling and bleeding, and an additional visit can help.
Home Routine
Your Gums and General Health
Diabetes and gum disease make each other worse. Inflamed gums raise blood sugar, and diabetes that isn't well controlled harms the gums. Improving one tends to improve the other.
Tell us if you're pregnant, diabetic or on medication that dries the mouth or swells the gums. We'll recommend a visit interval that suits you, instead of a blanket six months.
