Composite Bonding in Lanark: Front Teeth, Gently Rebuilt
Bonding a single tooth costs £395 at Lanark Smile Studios. Four teeth cost £1,550, and that package comes with home whitening. Your dentist builds tooth-coloured composite onto front teeth that are chipped, spaced or worn down, usually without removing any enamel.
What Bonding Costs
Pick the number of teeth. Home whitening comes first in each package, and your dentist shapes every tooth alongside the ones next to it, so they look like a matching set. 1
Upper Four
The two central incisors and the two beside them. Good for one chip or a small gap in the middle.

Book a consultationBook| Teeth | Which teeth | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A single chip, worn edge or narrow gap | £395 |
| 4 | The upper incisors, centre and sides | £1,550 |
| 6 | Upper incisors and the two canines | £2,350 |

| 10 | Out to the second premolars, for a wide smile | £3,950 |
Take the whitening away and four bonded teeth work out at £300 each, dropping to £360 each across ten. Composite veneers are charged at the same rate per tooth. The price is set in your written plan before treatment begins. Fees last reviewed October 2026.
Why Our Fee Is Higher
Elsewhere around Lanark, published bonding fees run from roughly £180 to £350 a tooth. We charge £395, and you're entitled to know where the extra goes.
A cheaper quote often covers one shade of composite applied in a single appointment, without whitening first or a follow-up after. That is a reasonable choice for a tiny chip. On a whole row of front teeth, though, one shade tends to look lifeless, and if nobody reviews your bite, a high spot can be missed.

Why Layers Matter
Real front teeth are never a single flat colour. Close to the gum the shade is warmer, the biting edge lets more light through, and fine ridges across the surface break up reflections. One block of composite can't reproduce any of that.
Instead, your dentist builds each tooth from thin layers, starting with a warm dentine shade, adding a body shade, and finishing with a clear enamel shade. The corners, edges and texture are shaped at the end to fit your face, not a stock outline.
In most cases your enamel is left completely alone. Now and then, lightly polishing the surface helps the composite hold on and merge in. If that applies to you, you'll hear the reason before anything is done.

Shade Before Shape
Once composite is in place, its colour is fixed. Whitening gel works on enamel only, so whitening after bonding would leave the bonded teeth looking darker than the rest.
For that reason every package begins with two to three weeks of whitening at home, using trays made for you. When the lighter shade has settled, your dentist matches the composite to it.
The shade guide runs from the very light bleach shades on the left through to a natural A3 on the right. Some patients prefer bright white, others something that suits their age. You can compare both beside your own teeth.
How the Visits Run
Expect roughly four weeks between your consultation and the last polish, mostly taken up by whitening at home.
That works well if you're coming in from Carluke, Lesmahagow or Biggar. Because the whitening happens at home, the full course takes only a handful of trips into Lanark.
Free Consultation
Your dentist takes photos, looks at your gums and bite, and tells you honestly whether bonding can deliver the look you want. It costs nothing, and the £20 deposit is refunded within 7 days of your appointment.
Home Whitening
For two to three weeks you wear trays made to fit your teeth. If you like your colour as it is, we skip this and match the composite to your current shade.
Bonding Day
Edge bonding usually takes one appointment, while composite veneers on several teeth may take two. Every tooth is layered, shaped and polished.
Follow-Up
Your dentist checks how your teeth bite together, smooths any rough spots and adds the final shine.

Composite or Porcelain?
Composite is faster, costs less and spares your enamel. Porcelain has a longer life and resists staining. The table sets the two out together.
| Feature | Composite bonding | Porcelain veneers |
|---|---|---|
| Enamel taken off | Normally none, at most a light polish | A fine layer, which makes it permanent |
| Visits | One or two | Three, beginning with a trial smile |
| How long it lasts | Around three to five years, then a refresh | Commonly ten to fifteen years or more |
| Staining | Gradually dulls; a polish restores it | Barely stains |
| If it chips | Usually repaired in one quick visit | Usually needs replacing |
| Price | £395 per tooth, or £1,550 for four plus whitening | From £695 per tooth |

Bonding Aftercare
Composite marks more easily than porcelain does. Tea, coffee, red wine, strongly spiced food and smoking all add to staining, and rinsing with water afterwards makes a difference. Avoid using bonded edges to bite nails, pens or ice.
