Families in Biggar: One Trip, the Whole Family
Tinto Hill stands between Biggar and Lanark, and the trip is about 12 miles, so it ought to be worth it for everyone. Brothers, sisters and parents can be booked one after another. We're taking on new child NHS patients, and adults can register on the NHS or choose private care, with places open for both right now.Children seen on the NHS, parents on the NHS or privately, and everyone booked back to back. About 12 miles from Biggar.
Signing Up the Children
One message is enough. Siblings can be seen back to back, so the family makes one journey instead of several.
Send Us the Names
Request a call back and choose NHS, or WhatsApp us the names and birth dates of each child. We'll phone to arrange a time.
An Easy First Visit
Little ones often stay on a parent's lap while we count their teeth. Older children can try the chair going up and down, and hold the mirror themselves, before we start.
Fluoride and Tips
Through Childsmile, Scotland's programme for children's teeth, we apply fluoride varnish to help protect them, and share simple advice on brushing and snacks.
The Next Visit
How often each child comes back depends on their own teeth, not a set timetable.
And for Mums and Dads
Parents tend to put their own teeth last. Two routes make it easy, and if something bigger comes up, implants with Dr Kalsi, planned on our own CT scanner, and IV sedation are here too.
Teenagers
Teenagers from Biggar stay on the NHS with us, free of charge until they turn 26. We watch for wisdom teeth and gum problems, and we speak to them, not past them.
If a bite genuinely needs fixed braces, we'll say so and talk you through the options. Anyone playing rugby, football or hockey can have a sports mouthguard made to fit for £190, far snugger than a shop-bought one. And for parents thinking about their own teeth, Dr Kalsi and Dr Gray provide Invisalign.
If There's an Accident
Bikes, trampolines and playgrounds take their toll. Here's what to do before you phone.
A Knocked-Out Adult Tooth
Handle it by the crown, never the root. Rinse it in milk if it's dirty and press it back into place, or keep it in milk. Ring us straight away, as the first hour counts.
A Knocked-Out Baby Tooth
Leave it out: putting it back can damage the adult tooth forming beneath. Bring your child in so we can take a look.
Toothache
Give a children's painkiller following the packet, and phone when we open. An urgent visit is £85, and free for plan members.
A Chip Off a Tooth
Hold on to any fragment. Small chips can often be rebuilt with tooth-coloured material in the same appointment.
Swelling in the Face
Phone us that day. Swelling that spreads fast, or affects an eye, breathing or swallowing, means A&E.
