Q: Should I have a bridge or an implant for a single missing tooth?

Much depends on the teeth on each side of the space. If they're healthy with no fillings, an implant or a resin-retained bridge leaves them untouched, while a conventional bridge requires them to be trimmed for crowns. An implant with its crown, from £2,775, is self-supporting and helps preserve the bone, but it involves a small operation and a healing period of a few months. Q: How do I choose between a clip-in denture and fixed teeth?

There's no single right answer. A clip-in denture is cheaper and can be removed for cleaning; fixed teeth stay put and feel more like natural teeth. Implant-retained dentures start at £8,500 per jaw and sit on two to four implants, while fixed full-arch teeth, on four implants (or six on some pathways), start at £9,300 an arch. They demand more bone (angled implants can make up for a shortfall) and a little more effort to clean underneath. Your scan results, your budget and whether you mind removing teeth at night all play a part, and at your consultation we'll compare both options with you.

Q: Can a broken denture be repaired?

Yes, in most cases, and we can add a tooth to a denture you already have for £105. If the problem is looseness rather than a break, a same-day reline in the chair (£110) reshapes its fitting surface to match your gums. Please avoid gluing it at home: household glues damage acrylic and can leave it beyond repair. Bring in all the broken pieces.

Filling a Gap: Four Routes

No single answer suits everyone. The neighbouring teeth, your bone and your budget all matter, and sometimes the least expensive route is the right one.

Loose Lower Dentures

This is one of the most common reasons people first ask about implants. Once the bone beneath has shrunk, a lower denture has little to hold on to, so it lifts as you speak and traps food as you chew.

Often, two implants in the lower jaw are enough to put that right. A new denture clips onto them, stays secure through a meal and still comes out at night to be cleaned. Dr Kalsi plans the implant positions on the CT scanner in our building and places them through a printed guide, and you keep wearing your existing denture while they heal.
