What to Do First
Some quick first aid at home looks after the tooth and keeps you more comfortable until you're seen.
Ways We Repair a Broken Tooth
Which repair suits you comes down to how much of the tooth is missing and whether the nerve is exposed. We'll go through the X-ray with you and explain the choices.
Small Chips on Front Teeth
Tooth-coloured composite is added and sculpted by hand, normally without drilling or an injection. Our composite bonding costs £395 per tooth and takes a single appointment.
A Missing Corner or Failed Filling
We can usually restore it with a white filling costing from £105 at the front and £118 further back. If much of the tooth is missing, we rebuild it fully (£350).
Cracked Back Teeth
A crack usually grows over time. To stop it, a ceramic onlay (£750) or a crown (from £675) covers the tooth and binds it together, with a temporary to protect it in the meantime.
When the Nerve Is Exposed
A pinkish spot in the broken surface, or throbbing pain that comes without any trigger, tells us the nerve is affected. Root canal treatment (from £450) deals with it, and a crown normally follows.
A Break Below the Gumline
Occasionally a tooth is beyond repair. We'll remove it carefully and go through the ways to replace it, such as a bridge, a denture or a dental implant.
Broken Veneers, Crowns or Bonding
We'll fix or remake it and find out what caused the damage. Where tooth grinding is to blame, wearing a night guard will help the new work last.

Is a Tiny Chip Worth Fixing?
Sometimes it isn't. If a chip only affects the enamel, isn't painful or sharp and doesn't bother you, we can polish it smooth and keep an eye on it at future dental examinations.
Do have it checked if it reaches the dentine, the more yellow layer beneath the enamel, if it's sensitive, or if it's on a back tooth that does the chewing. Chips like these tend to spread. An examination and X-ray will show which type yours is.
Costs
The emergency appointment is a single fee. Before we start any permanent repair, we'll give you its price in writing, so you always know the cost in advance. Fees last checked October 2026. 1
