Smile Makeover Prices
A makeover taken apart piece by piece, with prices for some common plans and a clear account of where the money goes.
What Does a Smile Makeover Cost in Lanark?
A smile makeover has no fixed price, because it combines several treatments and you pay only for the ones in your plan. At Lanark Smile Studios, whitening with composite bonding on six teeth costs £2,350; Invisalign Lite followed by that same bonding totals £5,600; and eight porcelain veneers after straightening start at £8,810. The design and trial smile aren't charged on their own, and your total is fixed in writing before treatment starts.
Why a Makeover Has No Set Price
Think of a makeover as a plan rather than a product. Picture someone whose teeth are a little crooked and turning yellow: aligners, whitening and some bonding might be all it takes. Another, whose front teeth are straight but worn and heavily filled, might need porcelain veneers and nothing more. Both count as makeovers, yet their costs can be thousands of pounds apart.
The honest way to price one, then, is to add up its parts. Your dentist starts at the end, designing the finished smile using photos and a 3D scan, then works backwards to the least treatment that will reach it. If a missing tooth needs an implant, that part is planned with the CT scanner we have here in the building and written into the same design, so every stage aims at one end result.
What Each Part Costs
| Treatment | Fee |
|---|---|
| Home whitening with made-to-measure trays | £350 (part of bonding packages and Invisalign) |
| Composite bonding or a composite veneer, for each tooth | £395 |
| Porcelain veneers, for each tooth | From £695 |
| Bonding with whitening, sold for 4, 6, 8 or 10 teeth | £1,550, £2,350, £3,150, £3,950 |
| Implant with crown, for one tooth | From £2,775 |
| Invisalign, by package | £3,250 to £4,750 |
| Design and trial smile | No separate charge |
Listed on their own, the design costs from £250 and the mock-up from £250. Once treatment goes ahead, you aren't billed for either. 1

Example Plans with Prices
| Plan | Guide fee |
|---|---|
| Whitening, then bonding on two chipped edges | £1,140 |
| Whitening plus bonding on six teeth | £2,350 |
| Whitening plus bonding on ten teeth | £3,950 |
| Invisalign Lite, followed by bonding on six teeth | £5,600 |
| Whitening, followed by six porcelain veneers | From £4,520 |
| Invisalign, followed by eight porcelain veneers | From £8,810 |
| Ten porcelain veneers | From £6,950 |
| An implant to fill a gap, plus bonding on six teeth | From £5,125 |
All of these are guide figures from our current price list. 1 Which Invisalign package you need depends on how far your teeth have to move, and the veneer and implant fees are starting prices. When an implant is part of the plan, a CT scan (£160) is added for planning. Your own total is confirmed after the consultation.
What Raises or Lowers the Total
- How many teeth. Bonding and veneers are priced per tooth, so six against ten is the largest single difference, and a wider smile shows more teeth.
- Composite or porcelain. Composite is the cheaper option and keeps more of your tooth; porcelain is dearer but has a longer life.
- Aligners before anything else. Straightening increases the bill, yet it frequently means fewer veneers, or less shaping of each tooth.
- Repairs first. Any decay, gum disease or worn-out crowns get treated beforehand at standard fees.
- Gaps. A missing tooth is built into the design from the outset, usually with an implant.
- An uneven gum line. If gum contouring forms part of the design, it's listed as its own item in your plan.
The Right Order Saves Money
The order hardly ever changes: straighten, then whiten, then bond or veneer. Teeth brought into line first need less material added afterwards, and sometimes none at all. Whitening follows because composite and porcelain are colour-matched when they're made and won't get any lighter later. Whiten after bonding and you'll find the bonding stuck at the old shade while the teeth around it brighten.
Getting the sequence wrong is how people end up paying twice, whether that's veneers fitted over crowded teeth and then replaced once the teeth are straightened, or bonding colour-matched to teeth that hadn't yet been whitened, which then has to be redone. One design and one written sequence prevent that. For the colour side of things, read our guide to whitening before bonding.
See It Before You Pay for It
Expect the design appointment to take about ninety minutes. We take photographs and video, scan your teeth with our iTero scanner and design the new smile over pictures of your own face. You then try on a temporary version over your teeth, made without any drilling, so you can look at it, talk with it in and photograph it. If it seems too long, too white or too uniform, it's the design we change, not your teeth.
You take home a written plan setting out the order, the timescale and a fixed fee. The consultation itself is free; a £20 deposit reserves it and is returned within seven days of attending. Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. We only hold on to the deposit if you don't attend and haven't let us know. The trial smile guide explains what the mock-up can and can't tell you.
Paying for Treatment: A Written, Fixed Fee
Your plan lists every stage with its fee before anything starts, and the total stays fixed once you've agreed it. Payment is due as treatment progresses.
If you'd rather, take it in stages: straighten or whiten first, then come back some months later for bonding or veneers, paying for each step as you reach it. That works just as well for patients coming from Carluke, Biggar or Lesmahagow as for those living in Lanark, provided every stage follows the same design. The dental plan doesn't reduce the cost of bonding, veneers, Invisalign or implants, but members do get 10% off whitening bought on its own, and off any fillings or gum treatment needed first.
How Long It All Takes
Whitening and bonding can be completed within a few weeks: two to three weeks of whitening at home, a short pause while the colour settles, then a single, longer bonding visit. Choosing porcelain instead adds three to four weeks from design to fitting. If Invisalign comes first, expect several months of straightening before any cosmetic work, and an implant needs time to heal before its crown is fitted. Your written plan lays out the timetable from the beginning, so you can fit treatment around a wedding, a holiday or Lanimer Day in June.
Questions
This guide is general information, not a diagnosis. A dentist needs to examine you to say what is right for your teeth.
